One of America's truly great aquariums will get a little bit better this spring, as a revamped river otter exhibit (with 6 rotating otters) will make its debut. There is a lot of information about the improvements on this link: Press Releases > New Otter Exhibit Coming to the Tennessee Aquarium Spring 2014 Interestingly enough I recall the viewing of the river otter exhibit to be awkward as visitors had to strain to look down upon the mammals. Here is a view from the excellent underwater viewing gallery: http://www.zoochat.com/849/appalachian-cove-forest-river-otter-exhibit-180582/
The current exhibit has much better viewing with large glass windows and the exhibit is sort of in a "L" shape. The land area is in different levels providing enrichment for the otters and they have a nice pool with underwater viewing for guests.
Ah, this would be why I did not remember the otter exhibit from my visit in 2013! Where was the old exhibit, in the same location? Just wondering where the underwater viewing area fit in if the exhibit was in the same location.
