Binturong enclosure

This is the new enclosure for binturongs (opened in 2020) in the North American area of the zoo. And yes, you read it right: North American area. The tree trunk in the background is a shelter for the pair of binturongs, striped skunks and raccoons and a viewing area for visitors.

This is the new enclosure for binturongs (opened in 2020) in the North American area of the zoo. And yes, you read it right: North American area. The tree trunk in the background is a shelter for the pair of binturongs, striped skunks and raccoons and a viewing area for visitors, the hut next to (in front of) the fake tree stump is the binturongs's indoor enclosure. The fence on the left separates the binturong and raccoon/skunk enclosure. This enclosure is the former skunk enclosure. So oddly enough, the North American part of the zoo also contains 3 Asian species: red pandas, binturongs, and asian-small clawed otters. The animals in the North American area are in order (if you follow the main route): Southern bison, common raccoon, striped skunk, binturong, black-tailed prairie dog, Nepalese red panda, white wolf and Asian-small clawed otter (in a very nice enclosure). At the back of the bison enclosure (opposite the African area) is another enclosure for Eurasian elks (mooses).
