Blue-throated Conures, Chester Zoo

I saw Blue-throated Conures (Pyrrhura cruentata) for the first time in 1990 when Chester Zoo had the only ones (2.1) in the UK. Since then this beautiful conure has been bred to the extent that it is now available as an aviary bred bird within the UK. Sadly the ones at Chester never did very well and the species is being phased out.
