Bronx Zoo- Himalayan Highlands- Glass-fronted Exhibit

February 23rd, 2012 Does anyone know what this exhibit is for as of now and what it was originally built for? I recall taking a picture of a pheasant (I believe it was a white-eared) up against the glass of the exhibit in April of 2010, but on this visit I was unsure if it was part of the snow leopard exhibit.

In my visit a few weeks ago, this exhibit held a Snow Leopard.

There are three separate snowleopard exhibits. The intention was that, since they can be difficult to spot, by having three together visitors stood a good chance of having at least one great view.

I'm not trying to sound rude, here, but then why was there a pheasant in there that day? (sometime in April 2010, if that helps)

The pheasant might have been next door in the exhibit with the ibex skull. That exhibit now has a Trapogan in it.

Not rude at all but I cannot know. Perhaps today they alternate species. There was a pheasant exhibit in that same "cave" to the left of this if I recall correctly.

That's probably the case, then. Thanks zooplantman and BeardsleyZooFan.
