What purpose does the elephant yard/exhibit serve as now? Does the zoo still have plans to exhibit elephants in the future with an expansion?

There is a black rhino using this yard now.

I visited the Brookfield Zoo in May. There was no sign of any plans for a new elephant exhibit on display anywhere as there were at one time.

One of my friends who is a volunteer at Brookfield told me that the zoo hopes to bring them back within 5 years or so, if I remember correctly. Just have to wait and see what happens. I noticed some elephant statues and educational display on elephants for the first time near the Habitat Africa exhibits recently.

@MeiLover Woah, woah, woah!!! What exhibit was this near by? (Giraffes, painted dogs, Gerenuks etc)
    • MeiLover
@pachyderm pro The statues and educational displays are located in Habitat Africa: The Forest. I think they were right outside of the exhibit exit.
