Brown Bear - 1984

what a shot, still in the same enclosure as they are today (unless this is a kodak bear)

I believe it was European Brown. And I was very impressed with the enclosure, both the size and the dense vegetation.

It is the brown bear enclosure and that looks like jacko, a male. The kodiak bears were in a sunken concrete dell so you didnt appreciate there sheer size

I don't even recall seeing Kodiaks on my visit.

They were between the polar bears and tigers but might well have gone by 1984.

The Kodiak bears left Whipsnade in 1985.

Hmmm.......... I don't remember the Polars or Tigers either. Maybe I missed them. I caught the train up from London and then walked around the Park. And it was early February.
