      Yes it is a public zoo, still open 100 years on. I am putting on a photo of the first Curator, R. Sanyal and the Heronry.

      The Calcutta Zoo used to have Javan rhinos and Four horned antelopes

      And a Sumatran rhino was born there in 1889.

      What subspecies was it ?
      Was it Dicerorhinus sumatrensis lasiotis ? Because that is the subspecies that was native to India

      Dicerorhinus sumatrensis sumatrensis x Dicerorhinus sumatrensis lasiotis
