Cape fur seals, Dyer Island, South Africa

There is a colony of several thousand Cape fur seals (Arctocephalus pusillus) on Dyer Island off of South Africa. Great white sharks feed on these seals.

      Is Dyer island the one where white sharks are seen attacking the seals from below and clearing the water, sometimes with seals in their mouths? Also the place where the photographers sometimes drag seal shaped pieces of foam to try to encourage a shark attack?

      I think that it likely is. There were several shark watching companies in the town where we took the whale-watching boat from. I had no idea that the sharks were out there until the whale watching people told us that we were also likely to see the sharks.
