Mother cleaning infant, Monkey Heights, Paignton, 28th March 2013. It is strange that so many of this species have plucked crowns.

That's Kibibi. Her baby was born a few days ago.

In this group, only her 1½ year old son has escaped losing his crown - so far!

The group at Colchester have this habit too.

I believe the two original females(this one and its mother) came (via a spell at Newquay) from the Colchester group so this habit was probably already ingrained from that group. But I've seen photos of others in Europe too with the same habit.

It seems to be caused by overgrooming but why its mainly confined to the bright-coloured crown I do not know. Colour attraction?
