Columbus Zoo - Black rhino

July 2008. There are 3 paddocks for rhinos at the zoo, but they are curiously all in the Asian section as the rest of the zoo is quite well organized geographically.

      Future Indian Rhinoceros paddocks.

Where will the Eastern black rhinos go when the Indians enter there?
    • okapikpr
The new African Savanna region of the zoo. And the Indians probably wont arrive, until the Black Rhinos move out.

The Savanna is supposedly going to be something crazy like 70 acres, but the Polar section opens first (2009). The Columbus Zoo is already one of the biggest and best zoos in North America, and it's only going to get better and better!

Snowleopaard: A lot of people notice that African Lions and Eastern Blacks are in Asia Quest. If you didn't know, Asia Quest used to be Herbivore/Carnivore with antelope and giraffes, hence the lions. The Pachyderm building before its renovation used to house African and Asian Elephants, Hippos, Warthogs, Tapirs, and Black Rhinos. I'm not sure what they plan to do with the Lion exhibit once they move out. I've heard a demolition of the current exhibit and building an exhibit for Amur Leopards to go with the Asia Quest theme.
