A large trogon found in northwest mexico. Perched in a hunchback pose here. I have always enjoyed this species call, super distinct. A very elusive specialty of Mexican mountains, and only found in small areas of the United states. This species is more related to the Quetzals of the Neotropics. This species feeding technique is most delightful, selecting and picking thoughtfully which food choice it will pick. The eggs of this species are pale blue.

      Marvelous!

I know this bird has been continuing for a while - is it still there (I'm assuming this is the one from this fall)?

@CheeseChameleon2007 This species isn't normally found in the US at all, it is seen here only as a vagrant.

@birdsandbats Yes, a very rare species in the U.S. only seen as a vagrant. ;) I never said it was normally found in the U.S. at all.

@birdsandbats Yes, it is still being seen. There was also a female but she disappeared at the beginning of this month.
