What exactly is inside this historic building? Is it the animal hospital?

Nothing today (except probably storage). It is a beautiful, historically-significant building, originally built as a rest and nursing area for mothers and young children. For a period in the 1970s and 80s, it was used as a gift shop, as it was adjacent to what was then the zoo's primary entrance off of Sloat Blvd. (closed).

With extensive renovation, it could become a fantastic revenue-generating event space, especially with its adjacency to the infamous new playground, Children's Zoo and Carousel. But it would take millions to do so.....

And frankly, this zoo appears to have great difficulty raising millions
