From photos it seems as if many of the enclosures are spacious and yet have a "home-made" feel about them. Would that be accurate? Also, how long does it take to tour the establishment? What is now different about the zoo in comparison to this map?

The enclosures were HUGE - some would be well over an acre of land, I wouldnt have discribed them as home made exactly, the use of hotwire fences, IMO was quite inovative, esp for the time they were built, my main point of comment would be more the plants, which are mostly native scrub, grasstrees etc but that wouldnt effect the animals as such. The site is quite steep and if all the animals were on display (or all the enclosures had animals in them) you could spend a few hours there. When we went however, it was SO hot and we were in a bit of a hurry to make a plane flight home, so we only spent just over an hour there. As per the latest updates on the forum, the zoo is now closed. (we visited in december 2012)
