@Cat-Man And one of many horrendous Serval exhibits I've seen in the USA. All of these are diabolical: Animal Haven Zoo (Wisconsin): Jo-Don Farms (Wisconsin): Bear Den Zoo (Wisconsin): Roscommon Zoo (Michigan):
Utterly disgraceful, the life of a domestic cat is more enriching than this. How these are allowed to exist in the 21st century is shameful.
@snowleopard I wonder why that is. Perhaps it’s due to the fact zoos are managed at state level? Perhaps it’s similar reasons as to why so many social issues are settled in the rest of the world but remain salient in American politics? Are there similar roadside institutions in Canada? Or is this specifically a US problem?
@Cat-Man There are some roadside zoos in Canada, but most have been shut down in the last 20 years. Due to weak laws, the number of menageries in the U.S. seems to have held fairly steady, with the odd ghastly zoo closing now and then. It just boggles my mind that anyone would think it is okay to keep a Serval in a tiny metal box, and yet there are even more examples than what I provided here.
