tarakihi (Nemadactylus macropterus)
a coastal marine fish of NZ and Australia (where it is called the jackass morwong). Former scientific name was Cheilodactylus macropterus. This photo shows well the extended filament of the pectoral fin, but not so much the distinctive dark saddle behind the head. November 2010
