Uranium ore from Shinkolobwe mine, Congo, 2019-12-03
Uraninite or pitchblende specimen sourced from the Shinkolobwe mine in Katanga, Congo, during the times of Belgian Congo when the mine was operated by Union Minière du Haute-Katange (the present-day Umicore). This mine secretly provided the uranium used for the Hiroshima bomb.
