Wolf exhibit, July 2009

The best thing at Skanes Animal Park is the wolf exhibit. Some 6000-7000 square meters of genuine forest (appr 1,5 acre). So great for the animals! Netted fence around, which is not good for photographers, but there is a roofed platform with acrylic windows. All pictures here are taken through those windows. If you are willing to pay a pretty heavy fee you can walk into the enclosure accompanied by a keeper. You must book in advance. The wolves are not tame, you cannot pat them, but according to the park´s web page they will get curious and approach you. Please note that the park is a very serious institution so this practise is no freak-show; there is no sensationalism like in Thailand "zoos" etc. One of these days I might take up on the offer.

A 1.5 acre enclosure for wolves is wonderful to see, as they like to roam around their exhibits in zoos and thus this wildlife park gives them lots of space to do just that. How much is it to venture inside the area with the wolves? Do you have to sign a Swedish waiver form? It was nice knowing you Dan...:)

      Haha... likewise, snowleopard! :D

Actually it is pretty damn expensive. 1900 Swedish Kronor for one person or 2500 Swedish Kronor for two persons. (More than two persons are not allowed).

Without bothering to check the exact numbers, 1900 Swedish Kronor would equal something in the region of 225 US Dollars or 175 Euro.

That is ten times the entrance fee for a grown up (200 Swedish kronor).

On the other hand, children up to 15 years old have free admittance to this wonderful animal park, situated 3 kilometers outside of the small city of Höör with a population of a few thousand people. The park is subsidized with tax money, though.

BTW, I will write a review from my visit in a couple of days.
