As promised, here is a copy of the 2014 European Studbook Report for the Armadillo Lizard - Ouroborus cataphractus

    Zoo Population:
1.1.0 - Leipzig Zoo in Germany

    Private Population:
    2.0.0 - Germany
    3.3.0 - Germany
    1.1.0 - Belgium
    2.3.1 - Sweden
    3.3.0 - Netherlands
    3.4.4 - France

    Total Population:
    15.15.5

It is worth noting that registration of animals is completely voluntary. If you know of Armadillo Lizards being kept at any other location, I would love to hear about it.

Any questions please let me know.

    Best Regards,

Zootierliste lists a number of additional holders - Wuppertal, Plzen, Terarium Dubec (Prague), Moscow, Madrid, Blackpool and Wingham. Some of those may be out-of-date but I'm sure there must still be more than just Leipzig (I saw them at Blackpool in 2010, but can't honestly recall if I saw them when I was last there in 2013).

Thanks for this information, I will contact these collection to see if they still have this species.

Registration of animals is completely voluntary on the part of the zoo but I guess all I can do is ask!! :)

    Best Regards,
