Visited Genoa aquarium, Zoom Torino and Milan Civic Aquarium last week......

Genoa aquarium is world-class - definitely up there with Lisbon and Valencia (in Europe).

Zoom Torino is small but really nicely laid out - all very themed - a bit like a small version of Valencia Bioparco. African area mixes Giraffe, Waterbuck, Dama Gazelle, Thompson's Gazelle & Impala. White rhino, eland and zebra in separate enclosure. Hippo have their own enclosure. Also very easy to visit by public transport.

Milan Civic Aquarium tiny but still a very nice facility with lots of history.

Developments at Napoli look fantastic - when I visited here in 2012, it looked on its last legs, but really pleased to see that it has survived and some real money has been invested. Lots of history here, and therefore, great to see it finally thriving.

Likewise Pistoia - a zoo with real potential - and good to see that they are improving elephant, giraffe and hippo area, which on my visit really let them down (much of the rest very high class).

Have the zoos in Central Italy been impacted by the Earthquake?
