Abnormally striped plains zebras

    I found the 2011 photo from Etosha interesting- I saw an identical zebra- a well known individual at that time - when I visited there in the early 1980's, so the gene for that variation has been present some time I think.

    I believe one of the Eastern European zoos had/has Zebras that have golden/brown stripes?. @Kifaru Bwana

    You meant Borana or maneless zebra. These have been recognised as a distinct subspecies of plains zebra.
