I've been scanning some of my parents old slides and came across a set from Adelaide Zoo in late 1975 (I was about 2.5 years old). I've uploaded some photos to the gallery - Adelaide Zoo Gallery
I love all these old photos, Sim' They take me back to the days when Aussie zoos were maybe not as spectacular as today, but had lots of interesting species which we no longer have. Judging by the written (posted) responses to most of them, I'm not the only person finding them enjoyable.
Very wonderful pictures Sim, thanks for providing these. I was reading a book on the Adelaide Zoo, written in 1990, and even then they had such a great variety of species that we do not see in Australia today.
Too right. I wish they still had elephant seals and a colony of Fiordland penguins at Taronga zoo and orcas and tiger sharks at seaworld.
