Seattle's Woodland Park Zoo is $10.50 in winter and $15 in summer, plus an additional $4 for parking. Countless zoos and aquariums that I've visited have been between $10 and $20....anything more than $20 is a little steep in price.

    Examples:
Taronga Zoo in Sydney: $44 (includes ferry ride)
    Australia Zoo: $50
San Diego trilogy can be seen for a 3-way pass that is around $130

What, 70 odd $ to go to a zoo..? I can almost get an unlimited yearly pass to my local zoo or aquarium for that much..!

The concept of seasonal prices is a new one to me, it doesn't happen in NZ or Australia (I think)...

    Auckland Zoo:
    about $18 for adults

    Underwater world:
    about $29 for adults

The 3 parks you quoted are more theme parks than zoos and $70 is usually the norm for them. Especially since Sea World and Busch Gardens are both operated by the same organisation and Animal Kingdom is part of the Disney enterprise...

Anywho, Chester costs £14.95 and this includes an optional donation to a current project (Former ones include funds for the new Orang exhibit, funds for the elephant house and funds for Chelonian conservation. The current one is Amphibians, I think...). Without the donation the cost is £13.59.

However I own a membership which for me cost £30.00 and allows me unlimited free entry to the zoo all year and also gives me free entry to a number of other collections. Adult memberships can cost upto £60.00

It only costs US$33 to visit Singapore Zoo, Night Safari AND Jurong BirdPark, excluding all ride (trams and monorail) costs.

Paignton Zoo: There are various categories, but normal adult admission is £11.90. For Living Coasts it's £8.75. A joint adult ticket is £18.60. For unlimited visits, annual membership costs £38.90 for Paignton - a bargain as far as I'm concerned!

@NZ Jeremy: seasonal pricing is fairly common throughout North America, as many zoos do about 65% of their business in the summer months. May, June, July and August are the prime time for zoo visitors, so why not jack up the cost? Capitalism at its best...haha
