It was posted soon after they went on exhibit, I believe. I'm not sure by who though.

    Terror skink.
Great white shark (really any living wild shark).
    Aldabran giant tortoise.
    Any live snake.
Another look at the Galapagos giant tortoise (preferably at an encounter in Auckland Zoo).
    Komodo dragon.
Another look at tuataras (seen them in the Southland Museum but would like to see some again).
    Any scorpion.
    Any cassowary.
    Wild kea.
    Kagu.
    Seriema.
    Antipodes Island parakeet.
Marine iguana (probably the one I have the least chance of seeing).
Any de-extincted species (a future one, probably even less likely than marine iguana).

    That's most of them.

pretty sure the butterfly house at the Otago Museum had some scorpions from Wellington Zoo - might want to check that out.

The closest Antips to you would probably be at Queenstown. They did have them at the aviaries in Invercargill but I haven't been there for a really long time so I don't know if they are still there or not.

A trip to Queenstown may be in order for the long to-do list (but very expensive). The butterfly house is definitely doable, and even if I don't see scorpions it'll still be fun. Orokonui has tuatara but due to their hibernation I'm going to wait until summer to go there, it's on the agenda.

It isn't that surprising.I think I have read something that no snake is allowed in NZ.

Snakes are apparently illegal in New Zealand - even in zoos. If @Kawekaweau has not been outside of New Zealand (or been abroad but not to a zoo/place where he saw snakes) then the only snakes in New Zealand he would have seen would be banded sea krait and yellow-bellied sea snakes.

Just saw he is from New Zealand, but still, that would be so strange, considering here in Australia you see at least one a week in the summer.

I used to get pronghorn in my yard when I lived in Wyoming. I totally took that for granted. They are pretty interesting animals. Very smelly too.

I think in terms of mainstream animals I am yet to see the two I most want to are koala and Panda, never had the chance to see either species before. ( Perhaps a trip to Edinburgh is needed, that or somewhere in the States)
