    Hi everybody,

I am wondering if anybody has any infromation about where any of the animals at Bristol Zoo has come from?
I already have the Fairy Penguins as an example of an import from a foreign country, but if you could help with anymore that you know of I would be very appreciative.

    Thanks in advance,

    Martin

One of the female Gorillas came from Rome, not sure which one though. Also, Jock came from France. That's all I've got :p

Moti the asiatic lioness was born at Helsinki zoo in 1994. She came to Bristol in 1996.

The Blue Penguin at Bristol is a male from Zoo Koln not one of the ones imported from Australia.

Bar one all of the pengiuns imported from Melbourne Zoo died shortly after arriving in Bristol. The single female that did survive was sent on to Germany and two surplus males came in exchange.

Yep, the 2nd little penguin did die unfortunately. When he first arrived, he kept having very unstable periods which he would recover from within a short period and the cause of which was never fully confirmed but wwas thought by our vets to be related to the change over from fresh to salt water and general stress. We then noticed a lump on his abdomen which turned out to be a hernia, which was operated on. Both these problems ceased to be a problem but several months later, he was then found dead in the enclosure; the cause of which was septicaemia.

What particular animals did you want to know about regarding imports as they've come from all over the world!

Did the new male De Brazza monkey came from Beauval in France?

And where did the original pair come from ?

Do you know if all three are living together now?
