This will be the first gorilla birth at Audubon Zoo in 24 years and the first offspring for 13-year-old Tumani, who came to Audubon from Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in 2017. This pregnancy is the result of successful breeding between Tumani and Okpara, a 26-year-old silverback gorilla, who came to Audubon from Franklin Park Zoo in 2017. The offspring, due in late summer, will be Tumani and Okpara’s first. Tumani’s birth window for the infant is July 15 through August 20. I haven't followed it closely, but I recall that they were considering closing the crocodile house there. I presume this means that they likely won't be in the immediate future?
@O L, you are far out there! The Alfred Brehm Haus has been renovated and the central inner hall is the location for their small lush tropical rainforest with SE Asian birds and a separate pools exhibit for crocodiles (the said Tomistomas will be housed there, I believe).

I visited this zoo last week on St. Patrick's Day and my wife and I enjoyed this zoo quite a bit. Many of the animals were active and we both enjoyed the immersion of a lot of their exhibits. I know there are some on this board that don't particularly care for some of that, but we both like it. A couple of notes from our visit: Reptile Encounter and the Nocturnal House are still closed. Most of the Louisiana Swamp Buildings were closed except for the White Alligator Building and the surrounding exhibits. The restaurant and gift shop in this area were closed since it was a weekday. Since this restaurant was closed, it created a massive backlog at the Zoofari Cafe. Wait times for lunch were in excess of an hour due to the larger amount of people than expected and were severely understaffed. Felt bad for those working. Spotted two tomistomas wallowing in their pond outside of the Reptile Encounter building. The Aubudon Aviary was closed due to an avian virus going on in the area. The Maguari Storks were not on exhibit (had sign in exhibit that said ANIMALS TEMPORARILY OFF EXHIBIT) The Cool Zoo area was closed and zoo train and carousel were also not operating.
Five Mertens’ water monitors have hatched, and five Linne’s two-toed sloths are now on exhibit in the giant anteater/agouti exhibit in Jaguar Jungle.
