As confirmed by @Jana in Zoo Jihlava thread, what I´ve hinted last week has now become true as second babirusa was born in Jihlava Mother is 4 year old Ndari, born in South Lakes Zoo, fingers crossed that third time will be really the charm for her as her previous two births were unsuccessfull.
Ufortunately, the second piglet in Jihlava died... Zoo is now waiting for autopsy results, whether they manage to find cause of the death.
Stuttgart and Jihlava will switch males in the coming weeks. Also Jihlava's female Ndari is pregnant, due in December.
Not sure if anyone knows this, but Opel zoo (which coordinate the European breeding programme) now have 1.1 Sulawesi babirusas.
17 yo female in Jihlava had to be put to sleep (health issues) Also, I heard some murmurs about Berlin importing animal from US does anyone have more info on it?
Wuppertal just had a Babirusa birth. According to Zootierliste TP Berlin has received 0.2 Babirusa, does anyone know from where?
A past thread I think it's good to put again on the rails... Was on sunday in Cerza and was lucky to see two wonderful pigglets. From their size they were born just a few weeks ago. So now the group is 1.2.3 (there was a young with the other female wich I assume was a male born last year).
Some more details : the pigglets were born May 13th to mother Sula. Father is Tomini. https://www.ouest-france.fr/normand...-lisieux-0edbad8e-20ce-11ee-99d3-d8f473980443
1.1 arrived at ZSL London Zoo back in 2020 from Chester Zoo but sadly the male, budi, passed away last month due to health reasons. 2.0 arrived at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo either sometime in December last year or earlier this year (also from Chester). They are now on show in the former Sloth Bear exhibit along with Francois Langur
On 18 September, she gave birth to a female. She was named Ambari. For father Cinta, mother Diah as well as Tierpark Berlin, this is the first young. The group at Tierpark Berlin now consists of six animals. Source: Facebook Tierpark Berlin
