Apart from the appalling juvenile drawings, Marwell makes the zoo look even worse than it is for all the species it has lost, there is hardly anything shown, it is absolutely terrible for a zoo of 75 hectares plus!
I know a lot of people on this site have pet peeves when it comes to map designs - ugly clip art, only using numbers, unclear pathways - but this may objectively be the most useless zoo map I've ever seen.
More like design over function, I'd say. It doesn't look ugly in my opinion, it just looks like it would be a pain in the ass to navigate the zoo with that map for anyone but regular visitors.
I'm really not a big fan of Cincinnati's. In my opinion the color choice an lines are sort of ugly and it's not that interesting to look at.
I miss this style of the map, which they ended in 2007. https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net...ision/latest?cb=20111002185449&path-prefix=en
Irvine Park and Zoo is pretty awful, likely the worst I've seen. The pasted google maps and stock images, the cheap lines and text, its all awful the more I see it. Its a terrible map for a terrible zoo.
I actually dont think its that bad. The only thing that I'd say is a downgrade are those eyesores of the cartoon animals. The original one looked a little too busy.
I really think most of the maps in Germany are fairly decent, even though there are some exceptions The Allwetterzoo Münster used to have a map which i think was kinda okay, but the aspect that the animals are partially not shown in their exhibits but beside the map isn`t really good and kinda annoying https://www.freizeitpark-welt.de/zoo/allwetterzoo_muenster/fotos/parkmaps/2015.jpg The new map anyways is in my opinion really terrible, it has the same annoying aspect with the animals being shown outside of their enclosures but it just looks like an unfinished beta version of a video game in 2007 https://www.allwetterzoo.de/download-file?file_id=9602&file_code=e47349b695 One map i really like is the one of Tierpark Hagenbeck, it`s minimalistic but you get a good overview of the park and the different locations and sizes of the exhibits. There are subtle marks on the paths showing which way is the best to go and i really like the style the animals are designed. One more nice detail the map has is, that the style is really similar to the old map, just with a more modern look. This is the old map ( https://image.jimcdn.com/app/cms/im...e71743ad5cd65f7e/version/1425898190/image.jpg ) This the new one Tierpark Hagenbeck Another map which is kind of weird and probably most people will think it`s really bad, is the map of Wildpark Schwarze Berge, it has a really unique style but i think it`s actually nice, but i don`t know, if the reason that i like it, is that it is good or if i just got used to the map since i know it basically my whole life https://www.wildpark-schwarze-berge.de/wp-content/uploads/wildpark-schwarze-berge-lageplan.pdf
Here's a map I made for one of my fantasy zoo exhibits: Full map - Map of Turkish exhibit by amur leopard posted 14 Jun 2020 at 2:37 PM What do you all think? Are the animals too small? Too convoluted? Not clear? I know that the animals are a bit difficult to identify but I did it for Zoochat so I would have a key or some kid of numbering system in real life. I'm doing another one focusing on Australian deserts at the moment. Oh and for reference all the animals have this sort of detail, though it may not be obvious looking at the entire map: Persian leopard by amur leopard posted 6 Jun 2020 at 5:33 PM
@amur leopard Turkey as the motive, and no endemic viper species? And no Turkish food stand? No Döner Kebab, Manti, Turkish delight etc.? https://weneedfun.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/Sad-Memes-6.jpg
