A wildlife park in the Highlands is facing closure after a council inspection uncovered health and safety issues believed to relate to animal welfare. The Black Isle visitor attraction – home to zebras, goats and meerkats – has been shut for a week-and-a-half. Yesterday, it emerged that concerns have been raised about the wellbeing of the 50-acre park’s four-legged residents and councillors are poised to review its licence. The owners remained defiant last night as a close friend claimed it would reopen this morning – but they face a fight to keep their licence at a special meeting on Wednesday. https://www.pressandjournal.co.uk/f...-wildlife-park-could-be-forced-to-close-down/
As probably one of the few people on this site, that has probably visited this place more than once,I have to say I am not surprised by this.Suspect this is the local council getting bold after seeing what has happened at SLWAP,and nipping the problems in the bud before things get to that level!!
For those still following the Black Isle saga, it's been granted a licence to continue as a paid-entry farm park and will no longer display exotics. On a semantic point, does this mean it counts as a closed zoo? https://www.pressandjournal.co.uk/fp/news/highlands/1071592/park-granted-new-licence/
