A group of 5 bonobo has arrived at La vallee des singe, in France, the group came from Stuttgart. These are the only bonobos in France and are currently off show until a new one acre, wooded enclosure with a 900m square house has been completed for them. The group includes a breeding female born in Twycross in 2001. According to Zootierliste there has been a group at la vallee des singes since 2009, but behind the scenes. I also seem to remember three bonobos leaving stuttgart around that time as well... Are they now on show and is that why this thread was started?
Yes, they arrived in 2009, exactly 3 November 2009 Here is the article that I realized :Des bonobos en 2011
The bonobos have been released onto their new island home, and this link features a video of them being released onto that island for the very first time. Les bonobos sur leur île pour la première fois ! - Les news de la Vallée des Singes
Obviously very nervous/cautious on their first outing. The island looks very bare apart from the few sapling trees one climbs up, but I guess the main part of the island is more wooded? Some logs or climbing stuff near the house would give them a bit more confidence perhaps than just the flat open ground.
Another female Bonobo has arrived - Her name is Lucy and she's come from Jacksonville, USA via quarantine in Leipzig
First bonobo born alive at France at August 4th, dam is "Ukela" (born at Frankfurt, 1985), sire still unknown.
Second bonobo born at La Vallee des Singes at december 12th, 2012, dam: "Khaya", sire and gender: still unknown.
