    Three bonobs died at Frankufrt Zoo last week, two young from an infection, and the breeding male Ludwig.

    First baby for 2017; Busira at Planckendael has given birth to an as of yet unsexed baby :D

    Female bonobos Kutu, Omanga and Visola have arrived at Vallée des Singes from Frankfurt, and have been introduced to Lisala, Bondo, Luebo and Lingoye. The group are going to move to Ouwehands soon.

    Female HERMIEN (~38 years old) passed Away suddenly at Wilhelma Stuttgart on March 2nd.

    NAYEMBI (MOBIKISI x LIBOSO) and her daughter NILA were shipped from Stuttgart to Frankfurt Zoo.

    Oh no not Hermien :( and intriguing news about Nayembi and Nila, that'll be interesting to see when I eventually visit Frankfurt!!

    Bonobo Mixi, whose four year old daughter Tikala passed away at the beginning of the year, gave birth to a baby yesterday.

    YAHIMBA (*2009 at Apenheul, daughter of ZAMBA and KUMBUKA) arrived at Romagne last week.

    Ukela has given birth to a female baby at Vallée des Singes, bringing the total bonobos there to 26 (offshow group of seven and onshow group of 19)

    Speaking of Mixi, her father Kirembo (son of Kombote and Masikini) died unannounced in Vallée des Singes last winter. So the population at VdS is actually 25 (7 offshow, 18 onshow)

    I do not, no. Only that it was in winter and that they suspect it was dilatative cardiomyopathy, just like his older brothers Simon and Lusambo, and his dad Masikini.
