Those little wooden fences are not big enough to stop a lemur crossing them, I believe they are just there to keep the people on the paths. Also, if you click through to the picture, it says it's a walkthrough.

Yes, but the nets are in between the tree and the boardwalk.

Also, in case someone missed it here's my hint.

My royalty is not a beacon

the exhibit is a mix of netted and walk-through enclosures. The walk-through part is for red ruffed lemurs.

Haha, I really wasn't expecting it to be that easy! :D It was the first species I could think of with a connection to royalty, and something on its head.

I'll put up a new riddle soon.

    I forgot.

    But here's my clue:
My namesake was killed by a twig, but there is no chance of me going that way, I'm more threatened by the cane.

Mertens's Water Monitor (Varanus mertensi) - the species is named for Robert Mertens, a famed German herpetologist who died after being bitten by his pet Twig-snake (Thelotornis capensis).

As a carnivorous taxon native to Australia, the MWM is vulnerable to poisoning through predation of the introduced Cane Toad.
