The aforementioned coalition has a website now, which offers the ability to join and support the campaign. Raw numbers about what is being requested and what benefits are expected. I don't think anyone at ZooChat is too worried about costs themselves but I do want to say - wow, that is a lot of money the zoo is asking for compared to the last attempt over ten years ago. This pricetag seems to represent (well, maybe only the 'shovel-ready' half, but who can be sure? )the same decline and deterioration we zoochatters have been concerned about for the last five or so years. I hope they receive it but I'm not sure if the political climate is favorable. If they fall short I hope they can convince private donors to cover it.
The antelope calf born last week has been euthanized. Brookfield Zoo euthanizes tiny baby antelope Valentino born on Valentine's Day due to birth defect
This is very sad, I'm happy they have at least been breeding, but it's always sad seeing a baby animal not make it to sexual maturity

I'm sort of hoping they have an exhibit here due to the fact that the area is a bit out of the way of the other exhibits, I would even be okay with them just using the spot for animal ambassadors
Technically they have an exhibit, that being a native prairie. I mean, if it's linked to Great Bear Wilderness somehow and also has intermittent wildlife, then I'm honestly sold. As for it potentially being the apes' space, I'd honestly expand the gorillas' abode to Habitat Africa! The Forest, and maybe utilize an O-Line for the Orangs. As for the other small primates, I'd honestly construct netted enclosures alongside Tropic World's length.
I would actually really love to see unique trails for the primates here considering the last example in the zoo that I remember was for the Prevosts Squirrel

Are dolphins in captivity emotionally and physically healthy? Brookfield Zoo researchers hope to find out
The article notes that at the moment six pangolins have been born at the zoo and three more are pregnant. It's unclear if that number includes just the Brookfield zoo or the other institutions that include the species.
