Some news snippets from the ZieZoo magazine: - The White-eared catbirds in the Bush have reared a chick this year. The second year in a row with Catbird breeding for Burgers', but last year it was the pair behind the scenes with the young. - In the Ocean both a Black-chinned guitarfish (3rd offspring for the zoo) and a Blue-spotted stingray were born. Both young are kept behind the scenes. The 3rd Sun bear cub is also visible now and they are rotating both mothers and the male sunbear between the two on-show enclosures and the off-show area. The animals do have contact through the fences. Somewhat longer ago, but not mentioned yet is the birth of another Banteng. The zoo has also released some background information on the Hornbill in the bush: the three males came from Avifauna, Ouwehands Dierenpark and Burgers' Zoo and are kept as a bachelor group as there is a shortage of females in the breeding program. The introduction in the Bush went well and I personally find it a great sight to see these birds soaring through the hall.
New male Cheetah arrived from Dvur Kralove. This new male is to become the new breeding male and the proven breeder already at Burgers will be send to another zoo : https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=572330770196620
