Lets be honest, quieter days at Chester are getting few and far between. Everything is relative of course, but I've been caught out several times now going when I thought it would be quiet, and its been heaving.

Chester zoo appear to be in the process of updating their website. Doesn't look complete yet as only 37 animal species are listed, however it's looking much more informative than their last website format

    Heheh! am I missing something?

Not only is there nothing there, but you've also tricked me into looking, which means I've become annoyed by the infantile image of Chester's media all over again! :D

I hope that article's the typical PR rhetoric, because the new site misses the mark on so many levels. On mobile, the most important aspects of the zoo are presented as 1) Predators (animatronic animals) 2) hosting an event (wedding/corporate) and 3) the Madagascar area (walk-through currently closed).

Actually, it's worth mentioning that if you're thinking of paying to visit the zoo at the moment, Monsoon Forest is closed (obviously), only one of the macaw aviaries is open, RotRA is closed and so is the aforementioned new lemur walk-through in order to introduce the crowned lemurs, so perhaps best to wait for another day.

Are we allowed to know why RotRA is closed?

I was looking to visit Tuesday, is there any chance that the walkthrough will be open by then? Definitely think the website should be showing that these areas are closed.

The zoo is hosting a Madagascar event on Monday (mainly kid's stuff with extra lemurs and Golden Mantella talks) so you'd hope the lemur walk-through will be open for that!

Quite poor to have so many areas closed at once, hopefully there is good reason for it.

I would hazard a guess that one of the reasons is that this is a relatively quiet time after the Easter holidays and before the Bank Holiday weekend. The zoo will then be pretty busy until September, so this is a good opportunity to get necessary tasks out of the way.

[IMG] I found this image online which had a link to the Chester Zoo website but the page no longer exists so I'm assuming that it could be real but if it is, I was wondering if anyone knew how accurate this is to the Zoos current plans

Think this is a recent map, maybe was included in the lion application for planning

Apart from ROTRA, do you know which other enclosures are being upgraded?

There should be 11 altogether. 6:5 according to Rhinos of the World unless someone has moved and it's not been updated
