    Indeed. These changes took place around 2004-05 if I remember correctly, so still a fairly recent development. Meerkats and porcupines were also kept in the camel house, as I recall.

    They were HGibbins. Grant's Zebra left in 2003, and until 1981 they shared their paddock with Fallow Deer.

    I seem to remember tortoise too.

    There was a small paddock adjoining the camel house built for tortoises in 1979 (I think), I can remember African Spurred, Greek and Hermann's and Radiated housed there. The enclosure would have been somewhere in the region of where the gaboon vipers are now kept. There was a shed with windows, allowing visitors to see the tortoises when they were inside and a small grass paddock.
