Colchester Zoo colchesters elephants

    Hi everyone
    This is my first thread, and just become a member yesterday.

    i was wondering if anyone had any news about the elephants at colchester zoo, and if they are still breeding or planning to breed with the three remaining cows in the future. any info will be greatful

    Hi James welcome to zoochat,
    The four African Elephants at Colchester are planned to breed Tembo and Zola are protectacted Elephants-I wouldn't think they'd want to breed from Zola after past experience,on the otherhand Opal and Tanya can still breed so who knows.

    as long as they are still planning to breed, its been a long time since a bady elephant as been born at colchester.

    You are correct-the last Elephant to be born at Colchester was in 2004 i think it was Jambo(?)
