The park has received 1.3 colobus monkeys from Port Lympne.

 

^thats good, they're building up quite a nice primate collection atm, i know orang-utan are on their wish list, tho that seems awfully far fetched atm.

 

Rumour has it that the llamas are finally going to be replaced by a more exciting ungulate species ??

 

I'd like to see that. I'd much ratherr you see a more impressive species on the way into the park

 

A few new species are on show since my last visit first off there is the Black and White Colobus in the old Spider Monkey enclosure,also in the Ground Cuscus exhibit on the outside of the Walled Gardens now has Long-nosed Potaroo's mixed with it,in the Reptile House there is now a Mangrove Snake on show.It would appear that the Lar Gibbon's and Purple-faced Langurs that used to live in the old Spider monkey enclosure have moved into the enclosure that used to house the breeding pair of Purple-faced Langur's.Finally the enclosure behind the back of the old Spider Monkey enclosure has had the bamboo that used to block it from view cut back and a sign put up,for the Sifaka and Ring-tailed Lemur that is housed in it!

 

New Arrivals.

A pair of long nosed potoroo can now be seen with the cous-cous in the
enclosure by the car park.

A yellow mongoose has been born this week.Only the mother and father remain in the enclosure.

Three more mara have arrived.

 

A dangerous mix potentially... I would imagine potoroos being partial to cous-cous...

 

News At Cotswold Wildlife Park/Paris?.

1/The male Sifaka kept with the lone ring tailed lemur by the new
colobus monkeys is due to go to the Paris Zoo in Spring 2012-does this
mean Paris Zoo is finally completed and due to open in 2012?

2/Sadly the female arabian hyrax and one youngster have died in the
restaurant exhibit.Only the lone surviving youngster is on display.The
male is off display.

3/A new pair of capybara have arrived and are housed with the Tapir.
The other more elderly pair are now across the path with the four mara-
3 recently arrived to join the lone mara male.

 

From what some of us who were at zoohistoricia in Leipzig last weekend,heard no work has has started on re-building Paris yet so would be very surprised,if the Sifaka did move to the old Paris Zoo!

 

So does the park only have 1 sifaka at the moment? Also, I believe that The Zoological Park of Paris is planned for opening again in 2014

 

The park has 3 sifaka. Two live in the lemur walkthrough, whilst the third is the aforementioned one heading to France.

 

But not now going to Paris PZ.
Where to then?

 

A male Aldabran giant tortoise has been presented to the park by the government of the Seychelles islands.
