I know I'm not the only ZooChat member who also follows Darren Naish's excellent blog Tetrapod Zoology. His latest post is on an incident when a child was badly hurt by a tapir at Dublin Zoo (there is a news report in the Ireland Forum). I think it's a very fair review of the dangers to keepers and public at zoos and in various similar situations, although I might have put more emphasis on the dangers of working with elephants and the move to protected contact.
