Unfortunately - the male Common Hippo has since died after being attacked by an adult female

The rhino baby girl's dad is Mweru. The little one, 34kg, is doing fine, she started drinking short after birth.

That´s perfect news! I was already nervous, that Dvur will never get breeding recomendation for okapi again.

Part of Bird House will be rebuilt this year and will be converted into Madagascar, not only for birds but also for some reptiles and fossas.

Arek, do you know what the long-term plan for Orangs is? Presumably they want to go out of the species.

EDIT: for anyone wondering at this apparent non-sequitur, the Orang enclosure is either part of, or adjoining to, the Bird House.

Orangs are to remain in Dvur Kralove but I don't know how long.

the target of safaripark is to replace all non-African species for African. But there are two "long term" exceptions - Orangs and false gharials. I think, that Orangs could be replaced by Bonobos in the far future.

But at least that one functions as a stand-in for African leopard. The other two not so much.

Visiting Dvur Kralove Zoo next month ( I hope, if I manege to get there because the public transport service to the zoo is insufficient).

Will probably not have time to do both the bus safari and truck safari.
Do both ways cover the same parts of the safari park?
Between the two, which one is recommended the most?
Which one is better for photography?
