Whats your Fave zoo, my fave i have been to is port lympne, it has tones of rare animals, or Sea world orlando, Florida. But over all, it is San Diego Zoo & Wild Animal Park, stuffed with Animal spieces! my local zoo is cotswold wildlife Park, used to be Marwell, Both good little zoos. Please replie
Cool, my fave zoo is the Toronto Zoo cause its open, rarly crowded(if you know were to go) and theres always something new to do, it never repeats.
Well, my fave zoo is the LA zoo so far because I been to that zoo about 150 times. But, when I visited the National Zoo, I loved it. So I guess I have two fave zoos.
I haven't been to that many and all of the ones i have been to have something that isn't great about them but i would have to say melbourne as my favorite.
Hi Pat, have to agree with you. I have visited most of the great zoos people talk about. Melbourne would have to be in the top 3 zoos of the world. All zoos seem to have one or more exhibits that are not good enough!! Just as soon as Melbourne gets rid of its tree top primate exhibits [although they were impressive when first opened in comparison] and theer small cat enclosures. I am not sure what l would have to complain about. Look forward to the day that Melbourne has a colobus exhibit that gives the animals room to show off there abilities. It would seem that Melbourne unlike many other city zoos still has what seems to be plenty of room to grow. Stuart R Webster
Hi Mark, l saw a thread the other day and people had listed the zoos that they had been to. Unfortunately it seemed to have fizzled out. As l would have enjoyed the exercise of working mine out. And now you give me the opportunity! I am sure that l have forgotten some. Due to technical difficulties here l am unable to upload my pics. This will happen middle of next month. Be prepared for allot of pictures of gorilla enclosures! Los Angeles SAW San Francisco Santa Barbra Tampa’s Busch gardens Gorilla Haven Atlanta Brookfield Lincoln Park Detroit Bronx Central Park Columbus Philadelphia Pittsburgh Seattle Woodland Park Point defiance zoo Milwaukee Melbourne Sydney Perth Adelaide Antwerp Bristol Chester Dudley Howlettes Port Lymphe LZP Longleat Twycross Whipsnade Edinburgh Beuval Paris j.d.p Frankfurt Köln Munich Stuttgart Delhi Ueno Apenhaul Burgers Artis Rotterdam Singapore Barcelona Madrid Zurich Why Melbourne in the top 3. I would never say that there was 1 particular zoo that was the best in the world as there are too many variables. Melbourne is number 1 l feel because Diversity of collection. The Gardens and open spaces. Including the Japanese garden. Rooms for new exhibits as funds become available. That it is a reasonably flat zoo. Easily accessible by public transport with adequate car parking close to the gate. Availability of keepers to personally answer questions. That keepers for a long time were on very low wages and still maintained a huge commitment to there animals. Zoo marketing of merchandise is not over the top. The quality of exhibits Gorillas Butterfly house. [Totally self supporting population] Lions Free flight aviary. [Yes it is sinking and falling apart butt still an excellent exhibit] Reptile house [very old butt still very functional with high standard of exhibits and maintenance/staff facilities] Most of the cats are in good enclosures. Elephants Of course l am biased. When l was 15 and started to be seriously hooked on zoos. I failed to appreciate how good Melbourne was even then 27 years ago. Stuart R Webster
Actually Mark, saying that l was biased was a honest statement in referance to my decision. As there is a emotional attachment to Melbourne zoo. My experiance tells me that Melbourne zoo is in the top 3 that l have visited. Stuart R Webster
favourite zoos My local zoo is Wellington zoo , and is nowhere near my favourites . My favourites would include ; Auckland , Melbourne , San Diego , Singapore . I was also impressed with Taiping ( good improvements to an old grotty zoo ) and Perth and Houston Zoos . The best specialist collection that I have seen is Jurong Bird Park
