Hello everyone! Does anyone know which subspecies of grey crowned cranes that Hannover is holding by the boat ride? On zootierliste it says that they are holding both southern and eastern grey crowned cranes, is that correct? Every time I've been to the park I've only seen two crowned cranes and I find it weird that they would have one of each and risk mixing the subspecies, especially as grey crowned cranes are pretty common, so it shouldn't be hard to find a partner of the same subspecies? So, are they really holding one of each? How can I tell the subspecies apart? I have some photos from the park and want to mark them with the correct subspecies. Here is two of the photos I need help with: Southern or northern grey crowned crane Southern or northern grey crowned crane Eastern: ZootierlisteHomepage Southern: ZootierlisteHomepage
On July 24 Drill female Daphne - which is 25 years old - gave birth to a healthy young ! Daphne is with this birth the oldest known Drill to give birth .
Very noteworthy and happy event to get over the radar. It seems their new enclosure might also have worked here. For years and years, they have had issues with getting their drill to breed. It seems the elder females had been incompatible with new young male (and I am unsure what the old male I am not sure made his "unfitness" hold out).
This is what I meant: they were incompatible with new and somehow the old male was ineffective with them. All the same, happy with the new breeding result!
