There are seven zoos in Europe keeping koalas; compare that to the numbers of European zoos keeping European species like European adders or European Hamsters. But no European calls them a special attraction-even though they sleep less than 20 hours a day! ...
When I went to Plankendael, I took the train to Muizen from Mechelen (the advised route). But at Muizen station, the doors wouldent open, so I was trapped in the train until it stopped at Hever . Thankfully, i foun dthe bus going to Plankendael. I was lucky too, it was arriving in 10 minutes, and it only went by once or twice an hour.
Muizen is a very small railway station so almost none of the passing trains are stopping there. You should leave the train at Mechelen and then 1. take the boat (5 min walking, 25 minutes on the boat) or 2. take the coach at the busstation in front of the railway station (5 min) of 3. just walk (45 min).
Indeed!! Although Wildwood in Kent, UK specialises in UK/European fauna and is a very nice collection (includes adders, badgers, red squirrels, etc). Nothing beats seeing your native fauna in the wild though..... Anyway, welcome Marc, enjoy this truly brilliant forum. Cheers Dean
