    Hi Everyone,

I'm ZooGeek. I'm from Chicago where I live and work and do volunteer work for a zoo and a baboon sanctuary.

I've always wanted to visit other zoos and started doing this on May 23. I visited the Indianapolis Zoo on May 23 and the St Louis Zoo on July 3 and 4. Loved both zoos and will go back again.

I'm planning visits to Cleveland, Pittsburgh and National Zoos before the end of the year.

In the past 10 years, I visited Oregon Zoo, San Francisco, Milwaukee County, Racine and of course Brookfield. I visited the London Zoo 20 years ago. Not a huge number but it's slowly growing.

I recently started a zoo budget travel blog called zoogeek.blogspot.com. Let me know what you think! I will be getting a new camera soon.

    Thanks!
    Natasha AKA zoogeek

Hello zoogeek, welcome to the site, and what a wonderfully appropriate name for here.

Besides the likes of Berlin, Singapore and San Diego, Chicago must as close to nirvana, with 2 great zoos and perhaps one of the worlds greatest aquariums all on your doorstep.
You must keep us up to date on the goings on at these great institutions.
Can you tell us anymore about the baboon sanctuary you work at?
Such as what species are kept there?

    And welcome again.

    Peaceable Primate Sanctuary

The baboon sanctuary is being built in Indiana and is called the Peaceable Primate Sanctuary. It was started by a keeper at the Lincoln Park Zoo. His name is Scott Kubisch. So far, he has, off the top of my head, hamadryas and olive baboons. I think one is a hybrid. Mostly pets people could no longer take care of.

Thank you for your warm and gracious greeting!
