I’ve been a guest on Zoochat for a while now, and finally decided to join as a member!

I love animals in general and always enjoy adding a new species to my list. Living in northern California, I’ve primarily been to facilities in California, Oregon, and Washington, but been to a few elsewhere. (16 AZA and 7 others, I can provide a list if anybody is interested!)

I am still a college student, though I do volunteer (and have for several years) at Turtle Bay Exploration Park, a small non-AZA facility in northern California, and work with several smaller native species and a few exotics.

I’m not sure if I could name a certain species as a favorite, but I do love Giraffes, Coquerel’s Sifakas, Cheetahs, Shoebills, toucans, and Argus Pheasants!

So, glad to be here and look forward to keeping up better with Zoochat!

Hi, I wouldn’t consider myself new, but haven’t been using ZooChat a lot until recently. Nice to meet you.

Welcome to Zoochat. I visited Turtle Bay back when it first opened; the bridge was half-finished and the botanic garden was not open yet. I understand that since that time they have opened the equivalent of a small zoo and now have beavers in the aquarium.

Thanks! Yes, it has expanded in the animal department quite a lot since then. Still small by zoo standards, but increasing and getting better. One beaver and a few diving ducks now live in the aquarium.
