    Hi zoo-fans,

I am a collector of bovids, means I try to get as many sightings with photos of bovid taxa as possible. I started 3 years ago, now I am at number 109 with taxa I have seen alive. Beside that I collect also fossil taxa and rare stuffed specimens. For now I would start with my list of lifers i have seen. Those with stars were seen also/only in the wild. I am interested how your list would look like!

Very impressive list! You must have travelled quite widely across Africa to have spotted so many African species. I envy you very much! :D

Thanks, It is indeed, I typed the wrong subspecies, as I have seen the nominate too.

I saw the Tsessebe in NE Botswana near Chobe NP. For my previous job I had a lot of field work in Ethiopia, Kenya and Tanzania, which certainly helped. But those days are over now with a final (and 11th) visit to Kenya earlier this year. Apart from that I have been to Southern Africa twice, of which one time was limited to the Western Cape. So I have been lucky to travel so much indeed.

As for wild Anoa, they are seen from the same hide in Sulawesi as Babirusa, although more rarely. Sadly, I did not get to visit Gorontalo this summer as the trip itinerary was finalised before I discovered this fact.

Hi, I saw ca 117 subspecies in zoos, 44 species and ca 52 subspecies in the wild, in total ca 148 species or subspecies of bovids. There could be more, depending of different races of some zoo stocks of antelope etc.
