Kumbo and Komu lived together in a chain-link cage, Kihi lived in a open outdoor exhibit.

They only acquired three gorillas, which is Kumbo, Kihi, and Komu, from a zoo in England in 2002. They could be more gorillas in the past, since the first Ragunan Zoo's site was established in 1864 and moved to the second site (The current site) in 1966.

There were four gorillas at Schmutzer. All arrived together from Howletts in July 2002. The male Kidjoum died in February 2008 following a fight with the other gorillas.

Dunno if it's true but TSI used to had gorillas back in the 2000s, and its exhibit is near the exit for the reptile tunnel and the Safari Kuring restaurant. The exhibit is still vacant until now, but I only briefly walked past its former exhibit multiple times during my visits on 2009, 2011, 2013 and 2018 respectively. Dunno if it's already inhabited by other primates.

According to this Twitter post https://twitter.com/bundaazam/status/259871588411904000
there is a gorilla in Taman Safari Bogor. But it could be false, as the background looks similar to Ragunan Zoo's Kihi exhibit.

There is YouTube video of gorilla which the uploader claimed to be at Taman Safari.

It could be false, but the exhibits looks very similar to the Primate Center's Sumatran orangutan exhibit, but it could just be a coincidence and the gorilla shown in the video is housed in a different zoo.

But, there is actually a statue of a gorilla in the Primate Center and I don't think they would waste some money to build a statue of a animal that they didn't own. But, again, I'm still skeptical of the claim.

I guess TSI's gorilla is a rather plausible case

An interesting video (In Bahasa Indonesia) about the keeper of the gorillas in Ragunan who've been taking care of them since their arrival, which also talked about the gorilla. I can provide translate if you guys asked.

Makoua was Rotterdam's single silverback male. They tried to introduce him to the single female Sophie. It failed so he was sent away- Director did not want single animals anymore.

Probably the one(Komu) will no longer live with the other two. Adult males living together frequently become incompatable like that.

BSD Zoo, Tangerang, Jakarta has unofficial plans for large Gorilla exhibit. Most likely Gorillas will come from European breeding program, similar to others rare species that are at Batu Secret Zoo.
