I'm pretty happy with the animal roster. Probably would switch around some from the DLC packs and base game, but that's not a big deal, especially when you buy all of the DLC. I guess if I had to nitpick:

Bengal tiger: Since Bengal tigers aren't really seen in zoos outside of Asia, I think a different tropical tiger subspecies would have been a better choice. I'm thinking Sumatran but Malayan would work well too. I guess they went for Bengal cause they're more iconic.

Spectacled caiman: Just felt pretty redundant, since we already had four other crocodilians, including a caiman. If they really wanted to add another crocodilian, I think there are some better options. The Orinoco crocodile has a more distinct appearance, and the Nile crocodile would have been some African crocodilian representation.

Honestly, I'm fine with most of PZ's roster. There's a few animals that need a visual tune-up (looking at you, Malayan Tapir...), but the only animal that I think is not deserving of a place on the roster is the Himalayan Brown Bear. Here's why.
    1. It's redundant: we already have the Grizzly Bear, which is much more iconic and comes from a less-represented continent (North America). I don't have issues with the Aldabra Tortoise or Siberian Tiger, though. Probably because they're common in captivity.
    2. It looks bad: Aside from size, the HBB and the Grizzly are basically the same animal visually. Never mind that IRL Himalayan Brown Bears look significantly different from Grizzlies.
    3. It ruined bears for some fans: I saw some people on the PZ subreddit upset that the Sun Bear was added to the game in the Southeast Asian Animal Pack because "we have too many bears." I also saw an article from TheGamer saying that they didn't want Polar Bears in the Arctic Pack for similar reasons (OK, it was a bad article that said that they didn't want any of the animals we actually got in the Arctic Pack, but still). Maybe I'm wrong, but I think that we wouldn't have complaints like this if the HBB wasn't added. I'd be down for all 8 bear species to be added to PZ, but I know some people wouldn't like that, and I blame the HBB.
So, what would I replace this largely-redundant animal with? The American Black Bear. Totally different from the Formosan Black Bear, it's another North American Species, it has hella color variation potential, and it would be super-helpful for recreating a lot of North American zoos. We might get it in a future DLC, but I have my doubts.
So yeah, Himalayan Brown Bear is not good. Sue me.

Totally agree. The American black bear is very underrated, and we haven't (officially) had it in a zoo builder since the very first Zoo Tycoon.

Well, it was in Zoo Tycoon for the XBox, but you don’t really “build” in that game, so…

I agree with all this except I think that Reticulated pythons should be a habitat species.

I have an excellent Bonobo mod that has been 90% finished for years, but there's a model issue and nobody's been willing to take a closer look at it. Still hoping to finish it fully one day.

I disagree with your concept pureley because there's an unbalance between the number of species in each pack and some repetitive picks in each of them, and while you did add flying animals to the roster, only one is in the base game, I think if fleshed out a little this concept could be good

I think the problem with some of it is that there is less of a realistic plan with the pack sizes and more of just a brainstorm.

Awfully bold of you to have all those animals and exclude lions, West African or not.
(I kid, I kid, you probably just forgot to mention them)

Yes it's quite to keep track of them all, but what kind of person would I be to exclude the lions

i honestly disagree completely of your list, although there is an incredible quantity of animals in both base game and dlcs, i feel like there are should be more unique animals instead of animals that are basically the same of just reskins.

I pushed the racoon back here, replaced its place in the North America pack with the elk for more hoofstock and an animal not in Zoo Tycoon. Left wombat in Australia even though they could fit here. Red fox seemed redundant with fennec / arctic / tanuki so I replaced it with two requested nocturnal animals. And I just think the skunks are neat.
