Is anyone going to the members event on the weekend? If so can you take some pictures of the inside of the elephant building. Thanks!

This is a very old thread, nothing had been posted on it for 6 years!

Think it needs closing, so as not to get confused with the current one!!

@14556 has just posted on an old one by mistake. Best thing to do is report it so the admins can sort it out. (which I have done)

I've tidied up the Howletts news threads so they are divided by year.

This is the 2017 thread... he's moved the other recent posts into it.

Yeah, I moved the posts from that old thread to the 2017 thread. Then I went back and cut up all the long multi-year news threads into separate years so that it is easier to find stuff. The UK forums are a mess with all the overlapping year-threads for different zoos, and it takes a while to sort them out.

As @Zia says, with out-of-place posts (or anything else where there's a problem), it is easiest if the post is just reported (blue link saying "Report" under the post) because then whichever moderators are online see it more or less straight away and can see what can be done to sort it out. If a problem is simply mentioned within a thread it might not be seen for a while.

Is that really all the Tigers left at Howletts now- just 4 singles?

The fact that it is labeled as one, doesn't mean it is one ;)

Almost certainly I think. There was a time when they had enclosures full of generic Tigers as well as Siberians. I find it surprising they are now down to just 4. I presume they intend to continue with them but keep just pairs of the Siberian and Sumatrans in the future and will add new partners to the existing ones.

Its the classic zoo label still used in many places for generic/impure Tigers. The true Indian tiger doesn't exist in any European zoos now.

This is very good thank you.... I have just had a quick look and had no idea they had lost (deaths) as many elephants as they seem to have. :(
