I have been on and off this site for several years, and there was just a quick question I had after having a look at previous posts. Has the Bornean Orangutan Hsiao-Quai passed away? I saw someone posted it in the previous news thread, but can't seem to find any reference to it on Monkey World's facebook.

    Thanks once again!

She has indeed, as has Ben the chimpanzee. Neither were posted about on Facebook, but both were referenced to as sorely missed in the final Ape Rescue Chronicle of the year.

Very sad. Have Jin and Awan been integrated into the nursery group do you know?

Jin has been separate from her for a number of years now so he is not an issue. He is in the nursery group at the moment.

Awan and Hsiao-Quai were living in Tuan's group at the time of HQ's death; Awan has been taken under A-Mei and Lucky's wings and is doing fine. Even Tuan looks after her from time to time.

The current orang groupings are as follows.

    Gordon's: Gordon, Amy and Hsiao-Lan

    Tuan's: Tuan, A-Mei, Ro-Ro, Lucky and Awan

Nursery: Oshine, Jin, Silvestre, Bulu Mata, Rieke and Mimi-Loren.

Brilliant thanks. That's the way it is laid out on their website but I know it is sometimes out of date.

From that nursery lineup, it looks like poor Oshine has her hands full!

As none of this was actually news, and the moderation team are aiming to keep a clearer distinction between news threads and general discussion from now on (a distinction which technically we have always been supposed to observe) I have renamed this thread and started the "news thread" for the collection with the observation by @Fresco3 regarding the new series of Monkey Life here:

    Okay thanks.

But couldn't one argue that changes in housing situations and news of deaths is news?

It would count as news; the issue is that it isn't news pertaining to 2018 given the fact it happened some time ago (and was in fact already posted in the 2017 thread) and hence comprises a massive off-topic digression off the bat :p so given the fact that the information was posted in response to a query it fits better as the subject of a thread in its own right.
