Jurek7 whatever happened to your other exhibits? I stumbled across this thread and was interested to see more from you. I like how you give descriptions of your exhibit areas instead of just writing a species list.
If i had my own Zoo it would be Howletts-Style, In the country with woods and open areas my species list is abit small but would have large groups of them. African Lion - 2 groups Bengal Tiger Amur Tiger African Leopard African Golden Cat Sri Lankan Leopard Clouded Leopard Jaguar Marbled Cat Pampas Cat Asiatic Golden Cat Ocelot Geoffreys Cat Caracal Ocelot Bay Cat Red Wolf Dhole Maned Wolf Golden Jackal Western Lowland Gorilla Black Colobus Red Colobus Lion Tailed Macaque White-Cheeked Mangabey Diana Monkey Mona Monkey Syke's Monkey Vervet Monkey Red Howler Monkeys As you can see it will specialise in Big Cats thats what i hope one day, Its a small species list but will house them in very good and spacious enclosures.
If I were lucky enough to have my own zoo, animals I definitely would NOT have in it would be: Meerkats, Short-clawed Otters, Red-necked Wallabies, Bactrian Camels, Snowy Owls, Eurasian Eagle Owls, Capybara, Squirrel Monkeys, African Crested Porcupine, Burmese Python, Green Iguanas, and Leopard Geckos. It is not that I dislike any of these animals (there is no kind of animal, excepting parasites, I do not like); it's just that they are so ubiquitous. You can see them all over the place. Everywhere you go - the same animals. It seems to me that zoos (in Britain anywhere) are obeying some sort of providential Commandment: "Thou shalt have Meerkats, Short-clawed Otters and a walk-through wallaby paddock."
I think that's because most people only visit their local zoo, and there's not many people who don't want to see meerkats or get close up wallabies.
That for sure, no snakes are allowed in NZ, I'd kill for my local zoo to have a great reptile house..!
if i had my own zoo it would be called animal world wild animal park and the animals i would have would be: primates: western lowland gorilla chimpanzees borneo orangutangs sumatra oragutangs mandrills drills guinea baboons olive baboons geladas siamang gibbons golden cheeked gibbons black and white ruffed lemurs sifaka lemurs capuchin monkeys de brazza monkeys barbary macaques wooly monkeys samango monkeys big cats: barbary lions african lions asian lions bengal tigers siberian tigers royal white tigers chinese tigers leopards jaguars panthers clouded leopards snow leopards cheetahs small cats: servals fishing cats ocelots margay cats pallas cats hoofstock: elephants black rhinos white rhinos javan rhinos bongo kudu zebra giraffe buffalo wildebeests bisons bears: polar bears grizzly bears black bears birds: ostriches penguins reptiles: snakes lizards chamelions thats not all but that is just a little taste of what i would have at my zoo yours sincerley GorillaBoy
He does list two big cats that are the same in what species he would keep at Animal world wild animal park...
Well he`s also planning on keeping Royal White Tiger can some body please tell me what the LATIN name for this species or are they the Genetic FREAKS that the Lion Man series claims is a rare species when in fact they are just White Hybrid Bengal Tigers?!?!
God people, stop picking on the kids! It's not his fault some stupid zoos and people have led him astray regarding tigers, just tell him properly.
cant have more than one subspecies of lion at one zoo (nonsence rule, i know) cant get Javen Rhino can you post more. very interesting list
Yes i agree the African/Asian Lion rule is rather pointless. My local zoo said they where thinking of keeping Asians the other side of the park but they now cant. Its all to stop inbreeding but as more zoos are starting to house animals Geographically this is never going to happen. What would happen if this would go with tigers? Especially with places like Howletts and Port Lympne housing both 2-3 species in many enclosures,Quite a few collections hold more than one species of tigers so what would fill all that extra space? This would probably not happen as it would be almost impossible to inforce. But still its a big blow for Big Cat Specialising Collections with the African/Asian Lion rule.
It just dawned on me that South lakes isn't the only place in the UK to house Sumatran and Amur tigers like it claims to! Come on
can everyone please stop questioning my judgements if i want to have more than one species of lions then i will do it and if i want javan rhinos i will have them so please stop because its really making me innoyed yours sincerley GB

Just a small point, and I may be wrong, but aren't Meerkats and Slender-tailed Mongooses the same species?
i uderstand that. you can have more than one species of lion if you want (but ya wont be in the WAZA), but it would cost billios to get javen rhinos! sorry if i offended you, but javens could not be done. even though ya could not get javens, a very interesting list
I wasnt questionning anyone i was just talking about the 2 species rule which i think we all agree is rather pointless Anyone like my Zoo list? in the last page? Its abit small but it doesnt matter how many species a zoo has if they are looked after great then its all fine , Quite alot of the species will have more than 1 enclosure etc.
